Tailored support for diverse tertiary residents

For the month of November we’re offering one free sign up per institution for both accommodation eLearning modules: Supporting international homestay hosts and Tailored support for diverse tertiary residents.

Course overview

This eLearning course is designed for Australian and New Zealand tertiary accommodation providers and is ideal for managers, support staff and RAs. It consists of three micro-modules which introduce knowledge and skills that are helpful for supporting diverse resident bodies that include international students, new settlers, refugee-background learners and third culture kids. Each micro-module takes 10-15 minutes to complete.

In the three micro-modules you will:

• _{Watch short videos}
• _{Access external web pages}

Upon completion of the third micro-module, you will receive a digital badge that shows evidence of specialised training to support diverse residents.

Course benefits

(i) In 2024 the NZQA Code Office focused on homestay host provisions in its review procedures, and tertiary accommodation is likely to be a near-term focus. Education providers are required to provide tailored support for diverse residents that caters to their cultural and language backgrounds. This eLearning micro module provides evidence-based tools and case-based learning  for accommodation staff to enhance their intercultural skills and thereby meet Code obligations.

We will then email you with a payment link and request a list of the people you'd like to enrol. Once the payment has been processed we will enrol the provided list of participants.
